Projects
THISD works in a relatively new field, the development of sustainable practicces in the hospitality and tourism industry. While we encourage our members to be innovative and bring new ideas to the Association, we do have a number of core projects that we will develop over the next few years. These include:
- industry-specific training tools for EMS introduction and implementation
- a computer-based simulation for developing sustainable development at the destination level. The simulation identifies and facilitates the parts played by all the stakeholders and encourages the development and adoption of common policies and goals
- Certification of sustainable development in a range of industry businesses
- the encouragement of student work in this field through the sponsorship of a competition to reward student projects and the publication of students' research
