EMS courses :
Two new courses are currently being developed by THISD to provide Tourism and Hospitality business owners, managers and potential Green Champions with the tools and processes required to develop sustainable practices.
- The first 16 hour course (Introduction to Hospitality EMS) will provide an overview of the principals of an EMS program and will explore the background, development concepts and drivers of these programs as they have been implemented in the hospitality and tourism Industry.
- The second 24 hour course (Hospitality EMS Implementation) is designed for property staff who are, or who will be, charged with implementing and managing a successful EMS program.
These 2 courses, when completed, will be marketed to tourism and hospitality destination organizations and trade associations. They will be packaged as both separate and combined courses, offered within destinations, or on-site for a property chain.
THISD will seek iema or Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (www.iema.net) certification for both these courses as soon as possible.
The courses are scheduled to be completed and ready for pilot testing at reduced rates by Autumn 2008. Anyone interested in sponsoring the pilot testing of one or both of these courses should contact Phillip Marston.
